Artifact K: Lesson Reflections
After every science lesson I teach, I reflect with my mentor. She usually takes notes on the questions I ask, the students I call on, and the pace of the lesson. We sit down at the end of the day and go over the lesson from the beginning to the end. I have found that reflecting on lessons with my mentor is very beneficial. I am now more aware of things while I am teaching. One of my goals is higher order questioning. Since we talk about the questions I ask during my lessons, I am always thinking of more questions to ask that will further the higher order thinking. I have never been a person who likes to write down what I am thinking or reflecting on, but over this year I have become more open to writing down my reflections and talking about it.

Artifact L: Planning Collaboratively
I have found that it is more beneficial planning with others. I usually plan by myself or with my mentor but over the past couple months I have been planning with our science content resource at my school. I also plan with other residents and teachers in my grade level. The more I collaborate on lesson, the more ideas I can use. There have been several times where I come up with an activity for a lesson and when a few of us meet to plan, I like their idea better or I believe it will be more effective for my students. Our science content resource always gives me lessons, materials, or other resources that can help with my growth in teaching science.
