Artifact C: Misconceptions
The misconceptions are just as important as the content itself. As a teacher, you should be aware what misconceptions your students may have on the content you will be introducing. I find it helpful to look over the misconceptions before I plan a lesson to make sure that I am not teaching the students a misconception. I will also choose a misconception that I believe my students will think and create a discussion where the misconception is addressed. An example of a misconception would be that all metals are attracted to magnets. I would still believe this if I did not participate in a science lesson earlier this year. I discovered that there are only three metals that magnets are attracted to: Nickel, Iron, and Cobalt. If my professor had not addressed this misconception, I would still have it today. From this experience I have been more aware of misconceptions that may students may have. This website has an extensive list of misconceptions that students may have for a variety of topics.

Artifact D: Notecard
One of the readings I had this semester stuck out to me when discussing the diverse needs and abilities of students. The Steele article, Science Success for Students with Special Needs focused on teaching the most effective lessons for students with learning or behavior disorders. The quote that I thought was important talked about collaboration in planning. When you collaborate for planning, you are provided with an array of instructional strategies that will be beneficial to the students with disorders as well as the rest of the students in your classroom.
